Reston, Virginia is an internationally known, planned community. Founded in 1964, Reston was the first modern, post-World War II planned community in America, and sparked the revival of the planned community concept across the United States. Named after the initials of its founder, Robert E. Simon, this lush, wooded area along the Dulles Toll Road features a wide variety of housing, trails, lakes, golf courses, as well as the expansive Reston Town Center that is home to a variety of shops, restaurants and office buildings.
